Resumen

This essay looks at how structures of imperial power characterize the production, distribution, and recognition of academic writing, notably through the hegemony of English. It interrogates questions of language, scholarly publishing, and imperialism, with a particular focus on disciplines associated with the media and communications, in a Latin American context.

Toby Miller is Profesor Distinguido at the Instituto Tecnológico de Monterrey and was previously a professor at New York University and the University of California.
