This edition of the Journal explores critical approaches and contemporary perspectives on Media and Information Literacy (MIL) from and for Latin America. It seeks to contribute to a broad, contextualized understanding of MIL, recognizing and highlighting the contributions of Latin American critical thought to this understanding. It also aims to understand its implications in the face of the challenges of building citizenship in the digital age.

This is a joint special issue with CIESPAL's Chasqui, which addresses the topic from a cross-cutting perspective to understand the connections between media education and current approaches to MIL.
